The Power of Words

Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a wise old man. People from far and wide would come to seek his advice and guidance. One day, a young boy came to the old man and said, "Old man, I have a problem. My classmates always make fun of me and call me names. It hurts me deeply. What should I do?"

The old man looked at the boy and smiled. He said, "I have a solution for you, but you must follow my instructions carefully. Tomorrow, take a feather pillow and go to every house in the village. Open the pillow and let the feathers fly in the wind."

The boy was confused but decided to trust the old man. The next day, he went from house to house, opening the pillow and letting the feathers scatter in the wind. The villagers watched in amazement as the feathers floated in the air.

When the boy returned to the wise old man, he asked, "Old man, I did as you instructed, but I still don't understand how it will solve my problem."

The old man smiled and said, "Now, go back to every house and gather all the feathers."

The boy was perplexed but did as he was told. He went back to every house, trying to gather all the feathers. However, it was impossible to collect every single feather. The wind had carried them far and wide, and they had become intertwined with the environment.

When the boy returned to the old man, he said, "Old man, I couldn't gather all the feathers. They were scattered everywhere."

The old man nodded and said, "Just like the feathers, once words leave our mouths, we cannot take them back. They have the power to hurt and harm others, just like the feathers scattered in the wind. So, my young friend, choose your words wisely and remember their impact."

From that day forward, the young boy understood the power of words. He became mindful of his own speech and treated others with kindness and respect. And as he grew older, he shared this wisdom with others, teaching them the importance of using words for good.

Through this simple story, we are reminded of the power that our words hold. Once spoken, they cannot be taken back. They have the ability to uplift and inspire, or to hurt and destroy. Therefore, let us choose our words carefully and use them to spread love, understanding, and positivity.

The Value of Patience

In a beautiful forest, there lived a wise old turtle named Tim. Tim was known for his patience and wisdom. Animals from all around would come to seek his advice and learn from his teachings.

One day, a young rabbit named Ryan approached Tim with a question. He said, "Tim, I have always been impatient. I want things to happen quickly, and I get frustrated when they don't. How can I learn to be patient?"

Tim smiled and said, "Patience is a virtue, my young friend. Let me teach you a lesson." He took Ryan to a nearby tree and pointed to a small acorn on the ground. "Do you see this acorn? It will one day grow into a magnificent oak tree. But it takes time and patience."

Ryan looked at the acorn and said, "But Tim, it's just a small seed. How can it become a huge tree?"

Tim replied, "That's the beauty of nature, Ryan. Just like this acorn, everything in life takes time to grow and develop. Have faith in the process, and you will see the results."

Ryan was still unsure, but he decided to trust Tim and observe the acorn. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Ryan would visit the acorn every day, hoping to see a change. But nothing seemed to happen.

One day, as Ryan was about to give up, he noticed a tiny sprout emerging from the acorn. He was overjoyed and ran to Tim to share the news.

Tim smiled and said, "See, Ryan? With patience and faith, the small acorn has transformed into a sprout. And in time, it will grow into a magnificent tree."

From that day forward, Ryan learned the value of patience. He understood that great things take time and that rushing through life only leads to disappointment.

As Ryan grew older, he applied this lesson in all aspects of his life. He learned to be patient with his studies, relationships, and personal goals. And with time, he achieved great success.

Through this story, we learn that patience is a virtue that can lead to great rewards. Like the acorn, everything in life takes time and effort to grow and flourish. So, let us be patient and trust in the process, knowing that our efforts will bear fruit in due time.

Shen Wenbao lived near the great lake Taihu. He was very kind. His whole family was gentle and kind. They released trapped animals whenever they could.

"Have you released those birds I bought from the hunters this noon?" Shen asked his wife.

  "你把我中午从猎人那里买来的鸟都放走了吗?"沈问他妻子。

"Yes, I've let them all go," she answered.

  "是,我把它们全放走了。"她回答。

"That's wonderful," Shen said. "Now they are free to fly wherever they please. They can fly in the sky or rest on a branch in the forest." Just thinking about it made Shen so happy that he beamed.

  "很好,"沈说,"现在它们自由了,想去哪里都可以。它们可以在天空翱翔,也可以在林子里的树枝上栖息。"一想到这些沈就开心得微笑起来。

Most of the people in the area trapped and fished. Only the Shens were different. When their neighbors, caught some animals, the Shens always bought as many as they could and released them. Their neighbors thought for sure that the Shens were out of their minds. "Why waste good money on a bunch of birds? What good can it possibly do?"

"They're just simple minded, that's all." This is what most of the neighbors said.

  "他们是傻瓜。"邻居们说得最多的就是这句话。

But one night, when everybody had gone to sleep except Old Man Li, wh

o had insomnia, he heard voices in the street. When he looked out, he was so scared he fell over.

In the street, he saw two demons bringing an epidemic. Now, of course, we say germs bring epidemics. Maybe a germ is one kind of a demon. At any rate, germs are frightening to think about, and these demons Old Man Li saw sure were frightening to look at! In their hands, they carried dozens of little flags.

One of the demons said, "One flag for each house, right?"

"That's right," said the other demon, "But not that house there. That's the Shens' house. They have released lots and lots of captured animals, so we can't do anything to them."

  "对,"另一个魔鬼说,"但是那一家不要插。那是沈家。他们放了许多被抓的动物,所以我们不能对他们怎么样。"

Within days, a terrible epidemic swept through the Taihu district. In less than a week, over half of the people there were dead.

But the odd thing was that nobody in the Shen family got even a bit sick. His neighbors then knew that a good heart can earn good rewards. Shen Wenbao lived to a ripe old age and died peacefully, without any suffering.
