老人与海英语读后感 篇一
"The Old Man and the Sea" is a classic novella written by Ernest Hemingway. It tells the story of an old fisherman named Santiago who goes on a journey to catch a giant marlin. This book is not only a tale of perseverance and determination but also a reflection on the human condition.
One of the themes that struck me the most while reading this book is the idea of never giving up. Santiago, despite his age and the challenges he faces, continues to fight for what he believes in. He is determined to catch the marlin, even when it seems impossible. This perseverance is inspiring and serves as a reminder that we should never give up on our dreams, no matter how difficult they may seem.
Another theme that stood out to me is the importance of companionship and friendship. Santiago forms a close bond with a young boy named Manolin, who helps him and supports him throughout his journey. Their relationship is heartwarming and shows the power of having someone by your side during tough times. It reminds us of the importance of having someone to lean on and share our burdens with.
The novella also explores the concept of pride and the desire for recognition. Santiago's struggle with the marlin becomes more than just a battle of man against nature; it becomes a battle for his own pride and dignity. He wants to prove himself and show the world that he still has what it takes, despite his age. This theme made me reflect on the human need for validation and recognition, and the lengths we go to in order to prove ourselves.
Furthermore, "The Old Man and the Sea" is filled with rich symbolism. The marlin represents the elusive nature of success and greatness, while the sea symbolizes life's challenges and the unknown. The book's simplicity and straightforwardness allow the reader to delve deeper into its underlying meanings and symbolism, making it a thought-provoking read.
In conclusion, "The Old Man and the Sea" is a powerful and timeless novella that explores themes of perseverance, friendship, pride, and the human condition. It serves as a reminder to never give up on our dreams, to cherish the relationships we have, and to reflect on our own desires for recognition. The story's symbolism adds depth and complexity to the narrative, making it a truly meaningful and thought-provoking read.
老人与海英语读后感 篇二
"The Old Man and the Sea" is a novella that left a profound impact on me. Written by Ernest Hemingway, it tells the story of an old fisherman named Santiago and his relentless pursuit of a giant marlin. This book is not only a tale of adventure and determination but also a meditation on the nature of life and the human spirit.
One of the aspects that struck me the most about "The Old Man and the Sea" is its vivid and detailed description of the sea. Hemingway's writing style transports the reader to the ocean, immersing them in the sights, sounds, and smells of the sea. I could almost feel the salty breeze on my skin and taste the tang of the saltwater. The author's ability to create such a sensory experience through his words is truly remarkable.
Additionally, the novella explores the theme of isolation and loneliness. Santiago spends days alone at sea, battling against the elements and his own physical limitations. This solitude is both a source of strength and a cause for despair. It made me reflect on the human need for connection and companionship, and the toll that isolation can take on one's mental and emotional well-being.
"The Old Man and the Sea" also delves into the concept of masculinity and identity. Santiago's struggle with the marlin becomes more than just a physical battle; it becomes a battle for his own sense of self-worth and masculinity. It made me question societal expectations and the pressure to prove oneself based on traditional notions of strength and success.
Furthermore, the novella raises questions about the nature of success and the pursuit of greatness. Santiago's relentless pursuit of the marlin seems futile at times, yet he remains determined to catch it. This made me reflect on the nature of ambition and the lengths we go to in order to achieve our goals. It made me question whether success is defined solely by external achievements or if there is something more intrinsic to it.
In conclusion, "The Old Man and the Sea" is a powerful and thought-provoking novella that explores themes of nature, isolation, identity, and the pursuit of greatness. Hemingway's vivid descriptions of the sea and his exploration of the human condition make this book a truly compelling read. It serves as a reminder of the power of perseverance, the importance of connection, and the complexities of the human spirit.

It's long long ago, maybe before I can read english books. I don't rem
ember which movie edition I had seen. But I was impressed by the music, the scenery and the costume. I was very favor of a section of music in its balls. It'spretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, the heroine, though I didn't think she's beautiful. But she's smart. However, I didn't pay much attention to the plot. I thought it's so long that it made me impatient and bored. By now, I haven't read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either. I owe it to my prejudice.
In fact, I didn't understand the story at that time. I didn't know why it called Pride and Prejudice. Of course someone was pride, but I didn't find where' s the prejudice. I thought it's normal, the way people treated each other in that. I considered prejudice would be very disgusting.
