Good morning everyone! Today, I'd like to share with you a short story that taught me an important lesson about perseverance and determination.

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Jack. He lived in a small village and had big dreams of becoming a professional football player. Unfortunately, Jack was not naturally talented in sports. He was often the last one picked for teams and struggled to keep up with his peers.

Despite the challenges, Jack never gave up. Every day after school, he would go to the local park and practice his football skills. Rain or shine, he would spend hours kicking the ball against the wall, dribbling through cones, and practicing his shooting accuracy. Jack knew that if he wanted to improve, he had to put in the effort.

Months passed, and Jack's hard work started to pay off. His skills improved, and he became more confident in his abilities. One day, a talent scout from a professional football club happened to be passing by the park and saw Jack's dedication and talent. Impressed by his skills, the talent scout offered him a spot in their youth development program.

Jack couldn't believe his luck. He had overcome so many obstacles and finally had an opportunity to pursue his dreams. From that day forward, he trained even harder, pushing himself to the limit to become the best player he could be. Through perseverance and determination, Jack eventually made it to the professional football team and achieved his childhood dream.

This story taught me the importance of never giving up, no matter how difficult the journey may seem. Jack's story reminds us that success is not always about natural talent; it's about the effort we put in and our willingness to keep trying, even when faced with setbacks.

So, my friends, let us all remember the story of Jack and his journey to become a professional football player. Let it inspire us to persevere in the face of challenges and to never give up on our dreams. Thank you.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! Today, I want to share with you a heartwarming story that taught me the value of kindness and compassion.

Once upon a time, in a small fishing village, lived a poor fisherman named Tom. He had a small boat and would go out to sea every day to catch fish to sell at the market. One day, as he was fishing, he noticed a dolphin tangled up in a fishing net. The dolphin was struggling to free itself, and Tom could see the fear in its eyes.

Without hesitation, Tom jumped into the water and swam towards the dolphin. He carefully untangled the net, making sure not to hurt the dolphin in the process. When the dolphin was finally free, it swam around Tom, seemingly thanking him for his kindness. Tom smiled and waved goodbye as the dolphin disappeared into the sea.

The next day, as Tom was fishing, he felt a nudge against his boat. He looked down and was amazed to see the dolphin from the previous day swimming beside him. The dolphin guided Tom to a school of fish, making it easier for him to catch them. The dolphin continued to do this every day, helping Tom catch an abundance of fish.

Word spread throughout the village about Tom's newfound fishing luck, and soon other fishermen became curious. One by one, they followed Tom and were also guided to the best fishing spots by the dolphin. The village prospered, and the fishermen were able to provide for their families.

This story taught me the power of kindness and how it can come back to us when we least expect it. Tom's act of compassion towards the dolphin not only saved its life but also brought prosperity to the entire village. It reminds us that even the smallest act of kindness can have a ripple effect and make a difference in the lives of others.

So, my friends, let us all remember the story of Tom and the dolphin. Let it inspire us to be kind and compassionate towards others, for you never know how your actions might impact someone's life. Thank you.

today i am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. what is success? it is what everyone is longing for.sometimes success would be rather simple. winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is success; even now i am standing here giving my speech is somehow also success.

however, as a person's whole life is concerned, success becomes very complicated. is fortune success? is fame success? is high social status success? no, i don’t think so. i believe success is the realization of people's hopes and ideals.nowadays, in the modern society there are many people who are regarded as the successful. and the most obvious characteristics of them are money, high position and luxurious life. so most people believe that s success and all that they do is for this purpose. but the problem is wether it is real success. we all know there are always more money, higher position and better condition in front of us. if we keep chasing them, where is the end? what will satisfy us at last? therefore, we can see, to get the real success we must need something inside, which is the realization of people's hopes and ideals.

different people have different ideas about success; cause people's hopes and ideas vary from one another. but i am sure every success is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come by, cause in the process of our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility. these are the best treasures. so now i am very proud that i have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. it is my success, cause i raise up to challenge my hope.

what is success? everyone has his own interpretation as i do. but i am sure every success leads to an ever-brighter future. so ladies and gentlemen, believe in our hopes, believe in ourselves, we, every one of us, can make a successful life!

wish you all good success!

the east and the west, let’s enjoy the combination of the two cultures?

kipling said:“east is east, and west is west, and never the twain shall meet!” but now, a century later, they have met.

they have met in business. they have met in education. they have met in the arts. some people will argue that these meetings will leave us with a choice between east and west, but i believe that the best future lies in the creative combination of both worlds. we can make western ideas, customs and technology our own, and adapt them to our own use. we can enjoy the best of both worlds, because our tradition is, above all, one of selecting the best and making it our own.

i love beijing and hennan opera because it always reminds me of who i am. but i am also a fan of pop music, especially english songs. so i have combined eastern melody with western language. it is called western henna opera.

when two cultures meet, there may be things in one culture, which do not fit into the tradition of the other. when this happens, we need to learn to understand and respect the customs of another culture. then there are certain things some people may not like. to this, i will say, if you do not like it, please try to tolerate it. to learn to tolerate what you personally don’t like is a great virtue at a time when different cultures mix and merge. before us, there are two rivers, eastern and western cultures. at present, they may run in different courses. but eventually, they will converge into the vast sea of human culture.

right now, i can see peoples of eastern and western cultures, standing side by side, singing the olympic theme song: we are hand in hand, heart to heart, together we will shape a beautiful tomorrow! thank you!

once upon a time, a weenie ant was walking on his way. as he was walking, suddenly he felt the ground shaking terribly. he looked around with his paranoid eyes and saw an elephant walking right behind him. quickly, the little ant covered himself with dirt, but one leg was unfortunately left out. a sparrow saw everything, so she flew down with the purpose of teasing the ant: “hey, chicken! watch out your leg, it’s out!” the ant felt embarrassed at first but then calmly responded: “ shi…i am going to trip that elephant.”

right now, i’m standing on this glamorous stage. but everything here reminds me of is a not so fun memory. around this time last year i was in nanjing competing in another speech contest. that was the first time for me to be in such a large event. of course the pressure i was under was immense too. after a sleepless and stressful night, i went onto that stage without the feeling in my legs. that speech turned out to be horrible. i don’t remember how i get down from there, but i do remember afterwards i just wanted to find a hole to hide in just like the ant in the story. back at my school, it took a long time for me to recover. thanks to all the help i got from my special friends. my confidence was restored. after rounds of giving speeches and answering tough questions, i am here today. from all that i’ve been through i’ve learned that a good future is based on a forgotten past, if i want my life to go on well i have to let go of my past failure. so today, with out fear, i am tripping my elephant again.

In my 18 years of life, there have been many things. University days are the best part of them. I can never forget the days when I stepped into my university. I was impressed by its garden'like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. I at once fell in love with it.

After the arduous military training, I get absolutely absorbed in my studies. The classes given by the teachers are excellent. They provide us with information not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. They easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as I can.

Frankly speaking, at first I had some difficulty following the teachers. However, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance, I made remarkable progress. Now I've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.

Learning is a long process; I'll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. This summer I got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. A publishing house offered me a part'time job in compilation and revision.

At the beginning I was belittled by my colleagues. But they were really surprised when I translated seven English articles over 5,000 words on only one day. Gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. In their opinion I turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.

I also realize that only those who bring happiness for others can be truly happy. So I often take part in activities concerning public welfare. I once went to a barren mountain village with my classmates. We taught the kids there who could not afford school. While showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, I was deeply touched by their eagerness to learn, their honesty and their purity. I couldn't control my tears on the day when we left. The precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers.
