保护大象英语作文 篇一
Elephants are magnificent creatures that have roamed the earth for thousands of years. They are known for their intelligence, strength, and gentle nature. However, these majestic animals are facing numerous threats and are in desperate need of protection.
One of the biggest threats to elephants is poaching. Poachers are driven by the demand for ivory, which is made from the tusks of elephants. Despite international bans on ivory trade, illegal poaching continues to be a major problem. As a result, elephant populations are rapidly declining, and some species are even on the brink of extinction.
Another threat to elephants is habitat loss. As human populations grow and expand, forests and grasslands – the natural habitats of elephants – are being destroyed to make way for agriculture, infrastructure, and urban development. This loss of habitat leads to increased human-elephant conflict as elephants are forced to venture into human settlements in search of food and water.
To protect elephants, it is crucial to address these threats. Firstly, governments and law enforcement agencies need to crack down on illegal poaching and ivory trade. Stricter penalties and better surveillance systems should be put in place to deter poachers and dismantle their networks.
Secondly, efforts should be made to conserve and restore elephant habitats. This can be done by creating protected areas where elephants can roam freely without the threat of human encroachment. Additionally, initiatives should be undertaken to educate and raise awareness among local communities about the importance of preserving elephant habitats.
Furthermore, international cooperation is essential in tackling the issue of elephant protection. Countries must work together to share information, intelligence, and resources to combat poaching and illegal trade. This can be done through collaborations between law enforcement agencies, conservation organizations, and governments.
In conclusion, protecting elephants is of utmost importance to ensure the survival of these incredible creatures. By addressing the threats of poaching and habitat loss, and by promoting international cooperation, we can make a difference in the conservation of elephants and secure a brighter future for them.

Elephants, the gentle giants of the animal kingdom, are facing numerous challenges that threaten their very existence. It is imperative that we take action to protect these magnificent creatures and ensure their survival for future generations.
One of the most pressing issues facing elephants is the illegal ivory trade. Despite international bans, the demand for ivory remains high, driving poachers to kill elephants for their tusks. This has led to a significant decline in elephant populations, with some species facing the threat of extinction. To combat this problem, it is crucial that governments and law enforcement agencies increase their efforts to crack down on poaching and dismantle the networks involved in the illegal ivory trade. Strict penalties should be imposed on those involved in poaching and trading ivory, and awareness campaigns should be launched to educate the public about the devastating consequences of this trade.
Another major threat to elephants is habitat loss. As human populations expand, forests and grasslands – the natural habitats of elephants – are being destroyed to make way for agriculture, infrastructure, and urban development. This loss of habitat not only disrupts the natural behavior and migration patterns of elephants but also leads to increased human-elephant conflict. To address this issue, it is essential that we prioritize the conservation and restoration of elephant habitats. Protected areas should be established where elephants can roam freely without the threat of human encroachment. Additionally, efforts should be made to promote sustainable land-use practices and alternative livelihoods for communities living in close proximity to elephant habitats.
Education and awareness play a crucial role in elephant conservation. It is important to educate the public about the importance of elephants in maintaining the balance of ecosystems and their intrinsic value as living beings. Schools, media, and community organizations should actively promote conservation education programs and initiatives. By raising awareness and fostering a sense of responsibility towards elephants, we can inspire people to take action and support conservation efforts.
In conclusion, protecting elephants is a collective responsibility that requires the collaboration of governments, organizations, and individuals. By addressing the issues of illegal ivory trade and habitat loss, and by promoting education and awareness, we can make a positive impact on elephant conservation. Let us come together to protect these magnificent creatures and secure a future where they can thrive in their natural habitats.

A number of years ago, I had the rather unique experience of being backstage in MadisonSquare Garden, in New York, during the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus. To saythe least, it was a fascinating experience. I was able to walk around looking at the lion tigergiraffes and all the other circus animals. As I was passing the elephant I suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied totheir front leg. No chain no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at any time, breakaway from their bonds but for some reason, they did not. I saw a trainer near by and askedwhy these beautiful, magnificent animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away.

elephants are like us in some ways. they live for a long time -- fifty or sixty years. they can remember things very well. they never forget sadness or great happiness for many months.
elephants are like us, but they are also different.
they live in families: families of females. there will be a few young males--a few baby boys. but the females will soon send them away. an elephant family keeps only its daughters,
mothers, grand-mothers and its great-grandmothers.they stay together for fifty, sixty.., a hundred years. the older animals look after the young ones. the mothers teach their daughters and set a good example.
and what happens to male elephants? well, the young males stay with their mothers for a time. then they must leave the family. the females just send them away. a bull elephant doesn't often have a friend. he lives apart, away from the family, and often away from other bulls.
sometimes the females call a bull. he can visit them then, and stay for a time. but soon his "wives" and sisters send him away again. the females have a very happy familly life. what do the bulls think about it? we don't know.
