Christmas Tree Story - Part One

Once upon a time, there was a small village nestled in the mountains. The villagers were known for their love and joy during the Christmas season. Every year, they would come together to decorate a magnificent Christmas tree in the village square.

The tradition of the Christmas tree began many years ago when a young girl named Emily found a small evergreen tree growing on the outskirts of the village. She was captivated by its beauty and decided to bring it home. With the help of her family, they planted the tree in their backyard.

As the years went by, the tree grew bigger and stronger. Emily would often spend time under its branches, reading her favorite books and dreaming about the magical Christmas season. She believed that the tree had a special power to bring joy and happiness to everyone around it.

One winter, a severe storm hit the village. The wind howled and the snow fell relentlessly. The villagers were devastated as their homes were destroyed, and they lost all hope. Emily, remembering the strength and resilience of her beloved tree, decided to take action.

She gathered the villagers and led them to her backyard where the Christmas tree stood tall. With determination in her eyes, she shared her belief in the tree's power to bring joy and happiness. The villagers were inspired by her words and together they decorated the tree with ornaments made from the remnants of their damaged homes.

As they lit up the tree with candles, a spark of hope ignited within the hearts of the villagers. The tree stood as a symbol of resilience and unity, reminding them that even in the darkest of times, the spirit of Christmas could bring light and joy.

From that day forward, the villagers continued the tradition of decorating the Christmas tree in the village square. They would gather every year, bringing ornaments and sharing stories of hope and love. The tree became a beacon of hope, spreading joy and happiness throughout the village.

And so, the story of the Christmas tree in the small mountain village continues to this day. It serves as a reminder of the power of unity, resilience, and the magic of Christmas.

Christmas Tree Story - Part Two

In a small town, far away from the mountain village, there lived a young boy named Charlie. Charlie was known for his mischievous nature and his love for adventure. One Christmas, as he was exploring the woods near his home, he stumbled upon a magical Christmas tree.

The tree stood tall and shimmered with colorful lights. It seemed to radiate an enchanting energy that Charlie couldn't resist. He approached the tree cautiously, unsure of what to expect. To his surprise, the tree began to speak.

"Greetings, young adventurer," the tree said in a gentle voice. "I am the Christmas tree of wishes. I have the power to grant one wish to anyone who truly believes in the magic of Christmas."

Charlie's eyes widened with excitement. He had always believed in the magic of Christmas and knew exactly what he wanted to wish for. Without hesitation, he closed his eyes and whispered his wish to the tree.

As Charlie opened his eyes, he found himself surrounded by a winter wonderland. Snowflakes danced in the air, and the scent of hot cocoa filled his senses. He had been transported to a magical Christmas village where everyone was filled with joy and laughter.

Charlie spent the entire day exploring the village, meeting new friends, and experiencing the true spirit of Christmas. As the sun began to set, he returned to the Christmas tree to thank it for granting his wish.

"You're welcome, Charlie," the tree whispered. "Remember, the magic of Christmas lies within your heart. Keep the spirit alive and spread joy to those around you."

With a heart filled with gratitude, Charlie bid farewell to the magical Christmas tree and returned to his town. Inspired by his adventure, he decided to share the joy and magic of Christmas with others. He gathered his friends and together they organized a Christmas party for the children in their community.

As they decorated the Christmas tree in the town square, Charlie shared his story and encouraged everyone to believe in the magic of Christmas. The tree stood as a symbol of hope, reminding them that even the smallest act of kindness could make a difference in someone's life.

And so, the story of the magical Christmas tree and Charlie's adventure spread throughout the town. Each year, they would gather to decorate the tree, share stories, and spread joy. The tree became a symbol of belief, reminding everyone that the magic of Christmas resides within their hearts.

The Christmas Tree The Christmas Tree

Although it is generally agreed that the Christmas tree in its current form came from Germany in the early 19th century, the tradition of decorating atree to mark winter celebrations dates back hundreds of years to Roman times, when they used to decorate evergreen trees with small pieces of metal to celebrate Saturnalia.

In medieval times the'Paradise Play'was performed every year on 24 December. This depicted the creation of Man and the fall of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden and always included an evergreen hung with apples which represented the apple tree of temptation.

There is alegend that St Boniface,an English monk, came upon agroup of pagans gathered around an oak tree who were preparing to sacrifice achild to the God Thor.In order to stop the sacrifice, and save the child's life,St Boniface is said to have felled the tree with one blow of his fist.Later on,a fir tree grew in place of the oak and this,St Boniface told the pag ans,was the Tree of Life and represented the Christ Child.

Legend also suggests that,in the late 16th century,Martin Luther(the founder of the Protestant religion)was the first to decorate an indoor tree with candles when he attempted to recreate the stars shining over aforest of evergreens.

The first mention of decorated trees being taken indoors came in 1605 in Germany-a country with along Christmas tree history! The trees were initially decorated with fruit and sweets together with hand made objects such as quilled snowflakes and stars.German Christmas Markets began to sell shaped gingerbreads and wax ornaments which people bought as souvenirs of the fair and took home to hang on their tree.

Tinsel was also invented in Germany in about 1610.Up until fairly recently real silver was used, which was pulled into wafer thin strips by special machines. This was durable but tarnished quickly and many experiments took place to try and find an alternative-including amix of lead and tin, which was too heavy and kept breaking. It was only in the mid 20th century that aviable alternative was found.

  Artificial trees were inve

nted in the 1880's in abid to try and stop some of the damage being caused to real trees due to people lopping the tip off large trees, thus preventing the trees from growing any further. It got so bad in Germany that laws had to be brought in to prevent people having more than one tree.

Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria,is credited with being responsible for introducing the custom of the Christmas tree to the British public by decorating the first English Christmas tree at Windsor Castle in 1841 using candles, sweets, fruit and gingerbread.

The popularity of the Christmas tree grew in Britain during the first half of the 20th century, with trees becoming bigger and more elaborately decorated with bells, baubles and tinsel. However, the onset of the Second World War resulted in aban on cutting down trees for decoration and people resorted to having small, artificial tabletop trees bearing home made decorations. These were often taken down into the air raid shelters when the sirens sounded to provide abit of Christmas cheer!

This all changed following the war,and large trees were erected in many public places to celebrate Christmas. The most famous of these is the tree in Trafalgar Square,London which is an annual gift from the Norwegian government to give thanks for the help they received from Britain during the war.
