英语寓言的小故事 篇一
The Greedy Fox
Once upon a time, in a dense forest, there lived a cunning and greedy fox named Felix. Felix was always on the lookout for his next meal and would do anything to satisfy his hunger. One day, while wandering through the forest, he smelled the delicious aroma of freshly baked bread. Curiosity got the better of him, and he followed the scent until he reached a small cottage.
Inside the cottage, a kind old lady named Martha was taking the bread out of the oven. The aroma filled the air, making Felix's mouth water. Unable to resist the temptation, he decided to go inside and steal the bread.
As Felix sneaked into the cottage, Martha noticed him and decided to teach him a lesson. She placed the bread on the table but also put a jar with a narrow neck next to it. The jar was filled with shiny gold coins.
Unable to control his greed, Felix immediately jumped on the table and tried to grab the bread. But his paw got stuck inside the jar. No matter how hard he pulled, he couldn't free himself. The more he struggled, the deeper his paw went into the jar.
Martha watched the fox's futile attempts with a smile on her face. She then said, "You see, Felix, greed only leads to one's downfall. If you had been satisfied with the bread, you would have enjoyed a good meal. But now, your greed has trapped you."
Realizing his mistake, Felix begged Martha for help. Martha, being kind-hearted, decided to free the fox. She poured some oil into the jar, allowing Felix's paw to slip out easily. Felix felt a mix of relief and gratitude.
From that day on, Felix learned his lesson. He understood that greed would only bring him trouble and that it was better to be satisfied with what he had. He never again let his hunger blind him to the consequences of his actions.
英语寓言的小故事 篇二
The Wise Tortoise
In a peaceful pond, there lived a wise tortoise named Oscar. Oscar was known for his wisdom and patience. All the animals in the forest would seek his advice whenever they faced a problem. One day, a group of curious fish approached Oscar with a question.
"Oscar, we have always wondered what it's like to live on land," said the fish. "Could you please help us experience life outside the water?"
Oscar, being wise, understood the curiosity of the fish and decided to help them. He asked the fish to bring him some hollow reeds. Once the fish brought the reeds, Oscar tied them together with a strong vine.
"Now, my friends," said Oscar, "each of you must hold on to the vine with your mouths, and I will carry you to the land."
Excited about their upcoming adventure, the fish eagerly grabbed onto the vine. Oscar, using all his strength, slowly pulled the fish out of the water and onto the land. As the fish experienced life outside the pond, they were amazed by the sights and sounds around them.
However, their excitement quickly turned into panic as they realized they couldn't breathe without water. The fish struggled to survive, gasping for air. Oscar, seeing their distress, quickly dragged them back into the pond.
As the fish regained their breath, they thanked Oscar for saving their lives. They realized that their curiosity had almost cost them their lives, and they appreciated the life they had in the pond.
Oscar gently advised the fish, saying, "Sometimes, it is better to appreciate what we have instead of seeking what we don't have. Each of us is designed to thrive in our own environment, and it's important to respect and embrace that."
The fish learned their lesson that day. They understood the importance of being content with their own lives and not being tempted by what seemed exciting or different. From then on, they lived happily in the pond, appreciating the beauty and serenity it offered.
Both of these fables teach valuable lessons about the pitfalls of greed and the importance of contentment. They remind us to be mindful of our actions and appreciate what we have, rather than always longing for more.

狼和小羊
Wolf, meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands
on him, but to find some plea, which should justify to the Lamb himself his right to eat him. He thus addressed him:"Sirrah, last year you grossly insulted me." "Indeed," bleated the Lamb in a mournful tone of voice, "I was not then born." Then said the Wolf, "You feed in my pasture.""No, good sir," replied the Lamb, "I have not yet tasted grass." Again said the Wolf, "You drink of my well." "No," exclaimed the Lamb, "I never yet drank water, for as yet my mother′s milk is both food and drink to me." On which the Wolf seized him, and ate him up, saying, "Well! I won′t remain supperless, even though you refute every one of my imputations."The tyrant will always find a pretext for his tyranny.
